Holiday greetings to our generous supporters! We received the following heartwarming thank you letter and pictures from one of our featured patients, whose tree was displayed at the Seattle Museum of Flight. Please read this family's thank you that was helped by your generous donations and volunteer time. From Jamie, Shawn and Kenzie-- Thank you so much! We are so excited to see the tree and visit MOF! It’s volunteers like you and your guild that help make a difference! We spent a week at another hospital before being transferred to Seattle Children’s. Our first day at SCH was incredible. When we walked into our room, we met with our new team of doctors, nurses, therapists and hospital staff. One of those hospital team members told us, here at SCH if you can’t afford care or if your insurance doesn’t cover it, SCH’s uncompensated care will. All you have to do is focus on loving your child. It was such a relief. Shawn and I both have really good insurance, and Kenzie is double covered, but we still had some out-of-pocket expenses and although we didn’t need the assistance from the SCH uncompensated care fund, we ABSOLUTELY would have been devastated financially if we didn’t have that double coverage! Everyone kind of assumes that it’s only expensive medically while they are staying in the hospital, but a large portion of our medical Billing stuff has been her outpatient treatments. We spent a month in the hospital and it was almost a million dollars in care, 5 years of outpatient therapies, Orthotics medical testing and ER visits have almost tripled that amount and we are still going. Like you, that’s the reason why we share our story as A SCH Patient Ambassador and family because we understand the NEED. I know how much of a relief it was just knowing that we didn’t have to worry about the cost of her treatment! You can plan for a lot of things during your life, but you never plan on your child having a major medical event. We are so grateful for volunteers like you and the rest of the Seattle Festival of Trees Guild! I can certainly attest that each and every one of you is making a difference to a SCH family because you made a difference to my family during the most devastating time in our lives! And there are not enough Thank you’s in our lifetime to describe how grateful we are for that! We can’t wait to see Kenzie’s tree and we look forward to the incredible trees that you come up with for next year! Maybe Kenzie could come in and help decorate one next year! Again, thank you for everything you do! Jamie, Shawn and Kenzie 🥰 Learn more about how we help patients like Kenzie at SeattleFestivalofTrees.com
